Hello!
Welcome to the beginning of the NTA 4.0 Beta. We are really excited about this next major release of NTA and here is why:
- NTA 4.0 will leverage its own dedicated DB for flow storage and flow processing, alleviating the performance challenges that come with the collection, storage and reporting of large amounts of flow data.
- NTA 4.0 will no long be aggregating or collapsing historical data. Detailed data will be able to be stored and reported on for much longer than we can today
- NTA 4.0 CPU and Memory demands on the Orion DB will be significantly reduced, allowing for increased performance for other Orion modules that are currently installed.
A few finer points of detail:
- To take advantage of these performance benefits, you need to be running a 64bit OS.
- There will be a 32bit version of 4.0 available at launch but it will not support the new DB. This will be the last version of NTA supported on 32bit OS
- Data migration will handled during the install (not currently available in this Beta version)
- Old data from the SQL DB will automatically be moved to the new DB
- NTA DB will be handled during the install
- NPM SQL DB connection will still be required for node information
- NTA DB will be able to be installed on the Main Poller, or any other machine on your network
- Support for additional polling engines will be delivered in a future beta version
- BETA versions are NOT for production environments and cannot be upgraded from any previous version
Beta Hardware Requirements:
- VM or Physical (either will be fine)
- OS: 64bit required
- Storage:Min 24GB free partition for file storage, 60+ GB recommended
- CPU: Minimum of Dual Core
- RAM: Minimum 8GB, 16GB recommended
- NTA 4.0 Beta requires NPM 10.6 Beta
- After filling out the survey below and validating that you are a current customer. I will send you the download links for both NPM and NTA
